Fiber optics

In the Fitz lab, we used the following fibers for LED stimulation:

BFH48-200, BFH48-400 (from Thor Labs)

To cut these fibers:

• 1. use a lighter to burn off the clading (coating)

  2. insert the fiber into a fiber cleaver such as the CL-60

  3. score the fiber with the blade in the cleaver

  4. bend the fiber to make a clean break at the scored point
